Chatper 3

As I read chapter three, I discovered Africa’s geographical and civilization along with the culture.  There were three example in chapter three and Ali Mazrui video of The Africans: Triple Heritage that were similar.

The first was the first Cataract, the position of Africa and the detachment of the Arabian. That part of Africa was shaken off and divided by the Rea Sea. In the video Ali Mazrui mentions some of the same as in chapter three such as, there were several attempts to rebuild and create a bridge or tunnel to connect the two together as one. During this period there were several deaths with the failed attempts. This was one other reason to have Africans believing that they were not a part of anything and less than nothing. I found this very interesting to me and I learned that Arabs are just as much Africans as Africans.
Second example I found interesting was the Ali Mazrui spoke on the civilization of Africans and the landing of the Islamic religion and the praying took place several times a day and then in which direction was important. Now they had to pray toward Mecca, African has established this many years before the Muslims arrived and determined to pray toward Mecca.
Third example mention in chapter three and Ali Mazrui was the different rivers that are in Africa and where they were. The whole geographic make up of the continent of Arica. This was located close to the equator and this would determine the climate and the rainy days and during specific months of the year.
There was a river mentioned in chapter three as well as the mentions in the video were the Isis River, this was one of the largest rivers in Africa. It is known for its distance width and length wise.

Finally, I will agree with the three examples listed above. Ali Mazrui explained the cultures and geographical makeup of Africana and some of the surrounding continents’ that the sea runs through to connect and keep the similarities.
